Sjöguden, also known as "Sjögudens glada stunder," is a striking sculpture by Carl Milles located at Skeppsbron in Gamla Stan, Stockholm. Created in 1913 from red granite, it depicts a massive sea god pressing down on a shy mermaid. Although Milles envisioned ten similar figures along the city's docks, only Sjöguden was realized, which was finally erected in 1930. The sculpture represents a turning point in Milles' style, transitioning from his earlier works to a new focus on aquatic themes. Visitors can appreciate this artistic gem while exploring the historical surroundings of Gamla Stan. Accessible to the public year-round, there are no admission fees to view the sculpture.
