Kasteel van de Hertogen van Brabant, 1, Kasteelplein, Turnhout, Antwerpen, Vlaanderen, 2300, België / Belgique / Belgien
Kasteel van de Hertogen van Brabant, located in the center of Turnhout, Belgium, dates back to the 12th century and has undergone numerous renovations. Once a "court of pleasure" during the time of Maria van Hongarije, the castle fell into decline in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was purchased by the province of Antwerp in the early 20th century and restored after World War I. Today, it houses the Antwerp District Court, with historical relics and murals by Karel Boom depicting scenes from the time of Maria van Hongarije. Visitors can admire a statue of Naiad, the river goddess, by Rik Poot in the castle's pond. The castle is accessible to the public, with specific visiting hours and no admission fees. It is recommended to check for guided tour availability.
