Villa dei Quintili, 1092, Via Appia Nuova, Appio Claudio, Municipio Roma VII, Roma, Roma Capitale, Lazio, 00178, Italia

Villa dei Quintili, located on the ancient Via Appia Antica southwest of Rome, is an extensive Roman imperial villa complex whose origins date to the 2nd century AD. Originally the private estate of the Quintilii brothers and subsequently confiscated by Emperor Commodus, the villa exemplifies the scale and luxury of elite suburban residences of Imperial Rome. The site preserves monumental remains — residential quarters, grand bathing complexes, peristyles, fragments of mosaics and frescoes — arranged on expansive terraces that command panoramic views of the Appian Way and surrounding countryside. Archaeological study of the estate has provided important evidence about Roman architectural techniques, landscape planning and the economic functions of large rural properties affiliated with elite households. Its cultural significance derives from its testimony to imperial appropriation, Roman building technology and social history. The ruins are extensive and partly uneven; accessibility is limited in some areas due to original topography and conservation needs.
