The Church of Saint Raymond at the Refuge is a historic church located in Siena, founded in 1601 by the noble Aurelio Chigi. The construction continued after his death under the guidance of his family, including Pope Alexander VII. The church features a Baroque marble facade, designed by architect Benedetto Giovannelli, completed by 1660. Inside, visitors can admire a collection of artworks from renowned artists such as Rutilio Manetti and Francesco Vanni. The interior is notable for its cohesive decoration dating back to the early 17th century. A convent adjacent to the church was built in the 17th century and currently serves as a women’s boarding home, adding to the site’s historical depth.
