The Elora Cenotaph is a significant memorial dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives in the Great War. Unveiled on November 10, 1929, it reflects the community's profound impact from the war. Initially marked by a piece of captured German artillery, the cenotaph was designed by Captain George Hunter and features symbolic elements including Crusaders' swords, a cross, and a wreath of maple leaves. The structure stands 16 feet tall, crafted from La Casse granite, with engravings of the names of local soldiers and the major battles they fought in. It has been a site of remembrance and tribute, later including inscriptions for the Second World War and Korean War.
