Paphos Castle, located at the western end of the city port, is a medieval fortress with a rich history dating back to the Byzantine Empire. Originally built to protect the port, it has undergone various transformations, including significant renovations by the Ottomans in 1592. The castle features a large rectangular tower and offers insights into the region's architectural evolution. It is a key landmark of Paphos and is used for cultural events, including the annual Paphos Outdoor Cultural Festival. Visitors can explore the castle daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM in winter and until 7:30 PM in summer, with an admission fee of €2.50. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible, while the upper levels are not.
