New York City Hall, completed in 1812 and designed by Joseph‑François Mangin and John McComb Jr., is one of the oldest continuously used city halls in the United States. Architecturally it blends Federal, Neoclassical and French Renaissance influences, noted for its elegant façade, rotunda, council chamber and historic interiors. As the symbolic and operational seat of New York City government, it has witnessed major civic events, political milestones and public ceremonies, and sits within City Hall Park in Manhattan’s civic centre. Visitors encounter architectural detail, artworks and preserved municipal rooms that reflect the city’s political and social history. Public access is managed by the city; certain areas are open at scheduled times and some guided visits are available. Accessibility provisions exist, though access to particular spaces may be restricted to protect historic fabric. The building is recognised as a National Historic Landmark.
