The Stadterhebungsmonument in Düsseldorf is a public sculptural memorial commemorating the grant of town rights to the city. Situated in the Altstadt at the corner of Joseph‑Wimmer‑Gasse and Müller‑Schlösser‑Gasse, the work was created by Bert Gerresheim and unveiled in 1988 on the occasion of Düsseldorf’s 700th anniversary. The composition references local medieval history, notably the Battle of Worringen, the sealing of the town‑charter and the elevation of the St. Lambertus parish church to a collegiate foundation, and serves as a symbol of civic identity and urban memory. As an outdoor monument it is visible from surrounding streets and public spaces, generally freely accessible without admission, and may be encountered at any time though lighting and surface conditions vary; its placement in the historic Altstadt links it closely to the city’s cultural landscape.
