Beylerbeyi Sarayı (Beylerbeyi Palace) stands on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus in Istanbul as a mid‑19th‑century imperial summer residence and guest palace. Erected for Sultan Abdülaziz in the 1860s and designed by members of the Balyan architectural family, the palace blends Ottoman and European Second Empire influences and displays lavish interiors — Iznik tiles, marble, crystal chandeliers and gilded woodwork — alongside formal gardens and a waterfront terrace. Historically it functioned as a diplomatic reception house for foreign dignitaries and a visible symbol of late Ottoman modernization. Key attractions include the ceremonial reception and throne rooms, former private apartments and ornamental pavilions, with panoramic Bosphorus views. The site operates as a museum with seasonal opening patterns and an admission charge that varies; some historic areas have limited wheelchair access while main ground‑floor spaces are generally more accessible.
