Villa Groggia and its park occupy the historical site of the sixteenth‑century Palazzo Donà on the outskirts of Venice. The original palazzo was largely demolished in 1823 and its building materials reused locally, yet architectural fragments such as arches, jambs, capitals, columns and statues survive within subsequent renovations. A modest warehouse was converted into the Teatrino in the early twentieth century and continues as a local performance space. The Groggia family donated their properties to the Municipality of Venice, which allocated them to social promotion organisations; today the spaces — including a toy library and community theatre — host meetings, cultural activities and citizen services. The villa’s romantic quadrangular garden offers a view over the lagoon. As a layer of Venetian heritage and contemporary neighbourhood life, the site balances preservation, community use and seasonal cultural programming. Public access is managed locally; admission arrangements and accessibility features vary by venue and activity.
