Het Steen, a medieval fortress located on the right bank of the Scheldt in Antwerp, is the city's oldest preserved building. Originally constructed between 1200 and 1225, it has served various purposes including a prison and a home for disabled soldiers. Since 2021, it has been transformed into the Antwerp Visitor Center, featuring "The Antwerp Story," an interactive exhibition about the city's history and identity. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Scheldt from the newly designed space, which also hosts a city shop and a relaxation area. Het Steen is accessible and offers various tours. Admission is free, and it is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.
