The Piraeus Lion, a striking Greek marble statue, is located at the Venetian Arsenal in Venice, Italy. Originally sculpted around 360 BC, it served as a fountain and symbol of the Piraeus harbor in Athens. The lion was brought to Venice by Francesco Morosini in 1687 during the Great Turkish War. Notable for its runic inscriptions from the 11th century, the statue reflects the interaction between Vikings and the Byzantine Empire. Visitors can admire this historical artifact daily from 9 AM to 7 PM. Admission is free, but guided tours are available for a fee. The site is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for all visitors to enjoy.
