Casa Padellàs is a late 15th-century Catalan Gothic urban palace originally built for the Padellàs family and relocated, stone by stone, to the Plaça del Rei in the early 20th century to safeguard its fabric. An emblematic example of civil Gothic architecture, it features a vaulted internal courtyard, ornate façades and richly decorated interior rooms that reflect domestic life of the medieval bourgeoisie. The building is part of the Barcelona City History Museum (MUHBA) and accommodates historical displays and rotating exhibitions that interpret the city’s medieval past. Its cultural significance lies in both its architectural qualities and its role in early heritage conservation. The site is open under general museum visiting hours, operates with a modest admission fee structure and provides partial accessibility adaptations appropriate to a historic monument.
