Yoyogi Park in Tokyo is one of the city's largest urban parks, created in the late 1960s on land that previously served as a military parade ground, postwar US housing and later the athletes' village for the 1964 Olympic Games. Adjacent to Meiji Shrine and the landmark Yoyogi National Gymnasium, the park carries historical and architectural significance. Its mix of broad lawns, wooded areas, ponds, cycling paths, a dog run and flexible open spaces supports seasonal events, cherry‑blossom viewing and a lively weekend culture scene that includes Harajuku fashion, cosplay and rockabilly performances. As a municipal public park it is maintained for year‑round use under city hours with no general admission charge; accessible routes, paved paths and basic facilities are provided to support visitors with reduced mobility.
