The Cappella di Piazza is a marble tabernacle located at the base of the Torre del Mangia in Siena's Piazza del Campo. Built in 1352 to thank the Virgin Mary for sparing the city from the Black Death, its construction was led by Domenico di Agostino and later Giovanni di Cecco. The chapel features intricate Gothic niches and sculptures by Mariano d'Angelo Romanelli and Bartolomeo di Tommè. A Renaissance vault replaced its original roof in the 15th century, and the altar was adorned with frescoes by Giovanni Antonio Bazzi in the 16th century. The chapel's ironwork dates back to the 14th century, showcasing the rich artistic heritage of Siena.
