Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate is a 19th‑century fortified palace that served as a regional seat of the Glaoui family and a local administrative centre. Built in rammed earth and decorated with carved plaster and painted cedar wood, the kasbah contains towers, courtyards, private chambers, storerooms and a granary that together exemplify traditional southern Moroccan kasbah architecture and social organization. Historically both residential and defensive, it has become a cultural landmark of the Draa‑Tafilalet area and has featured in international film productions, linking it to Ouarzazate’s cinematic heritage. General visitor arrangements exist: the site is open to the public with an admission charge and seasonal visiting hours, while accessibility is partial because of uneven surfaces, narrow passages and stairs. Ongoing conservation focuses on stabilizing earthen structures and preserving decorative elements.
