The Musée de Cinéma in Ouarzazate opened in 2007 in a former Italian film studio built in 1981. The museum preserves a large collection of vintage film sets, props, cameras and technical equipment, arranged across four main buildings that recreate throne halls, a small jail, a torture room, a jinn court, an Asia‑Pharaonic room with photographs of international stars, and a technical wing exhibiting historical cinematographic gear and boats used on Lake Ouarzazate. Located opposite Taourirt Kasbah, it complements the nearby Atlas Studios and embodies Ouarzazate’s central role in Moroccan and international film production. The site is culturally significant for documenting local film craftsmanship and set design. In June 2024 several sets sustained significant fire damage, an event that forms part of the museum’s recent history.
