Porta San Pietro is a historical gateway in Lucca, designed by Alessandro Resta and constructed between 1565 and 1566 as part of the Renaissance city walls. This architectural feature is characterized by three gates topped with a central shield depicting the emblem of Saint Peter, flanked by lions in niches. The central opening serves as the main route for vehicular traffic, while the side gates are designated for pedestrians. The elegant classical tympanum adds to its aesthetic charm. Currently, the lower level of the gate houses a local historical reenactment association, reflecting the cultural vitality of Lucca.
