The Torre dell'Orologio (St Mark's Clocktower) in Venice is a late-15th-century Renaissance tower on Piazza San Marco, attributed to Mauro Codussi and completed around the turn of the 16th century. It contains a sophisticated astronomical clock that indicates hours, lunar phases and zodiac cycles, together with mechanical figures—the bronze "Mori" bell‑ringers and a procession of the Magi—linked to Venice’s civic and liturgical calendar. The decorated façade with the winged Lion of St Mark expresses state symbolism and communal identity. The tower's interior mechanisms and structure have been the subject of periodic conservation, and the site is regarded as an important example of Venetian craftsmanship, engineering and public timekeeping. General visitor arrangements are managed by cultural authorities: visiting hours vary seasonally, admission fees may apply, and access to upper levels can be limited for people with reduced mobility.
