Catete Palace, known in Portuguese as Palácio do Catete, is a historic site located in the Flamengo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Built between 1858 and 1867, it served as Brazil's presidential palace from 1897 until 1960. The palace is significant as the site of major historical events, including the suicide of President Getúlio Vargas. Today, it functions as the Museu da República, showcasing Brazilian history and culture. Visitors can explore its beautiful neoclassical architecture, gardens, and various exhibitions. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, with an admission fee. It is accessible by public transport, including the nearby Catete subway station.
