Over the years, it changed hands several times, passing to the Vecchietti family and later to the Pandolfini family in the 18th century. The villa is notable for its association with historical events, particularly during the Siege of Florence from 1529 to 1530 when Alessandro Vitelli used it as a base to bombard the nearby San Miniato al Monte, a notable church in the area. The villa has commemorative plaques that honor both Vitelli and Giusto Sustermans, a court painter who lived there in the 17th century and is known for his famous portrait of Galileo Galilei, who resided nearby.
