La Antorcha de la Amistad, or The Torch of Friendship, is a monumental sculpture located in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Standing nearly 65 feet tall and weighing over 45 tons, this abstract artwork symbolizes the cultural cooperation and friendship between Mexico and the United States. Unveiled on June 27, 2002, it was commissioned by a group of Mexican businessmen as a gift from the Mexican government. Situated in a busy traffic rotary, it draws countless visitors to its vibrant design and changing light displays throughout the year. The area is also home to key attractions such as the historic Alamo and the San Antonio River Walk. Visitors can enjoy the sculpture at any time, as it is always accessible, with no admission fees.
