The Muralla Romana of Barcelona are surviving sections of the ancient Roman defensive walls that surrounded the city of Barcino during the Roman period (roughly 1st century BCE to 4th century CE). They mark the original footprint of the settlement and underlie the street pattern and medieval fabric of the Gothic Quarter. Today fragments and towers are visible in several locations, both as open‑air archaeological remains and within museum contexts such as the city history museum, where excavations and displays interpret urban development, daily life and defensive architecture. As general guidance, sections in public spaces tend to be accessible without formal advance arrangements, while museum‑held remains follow institutional opening times and may involve admission; fees vary. Accessibility varies by site: some areas offer step‑free routes and interpretive facilities, while others are on uneven ground or have limited mobility access.
