The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding, located in Dubai’s historic Al Fahidi/Bastakiya quarter, was founded in the late 1990s to promote mutual understanding between Emirati society and international visitors. The centre documents and interprets local history and social customs through guided neighbourhood walks, structured cultural talks, traditional meals held in a majlis setting, basic language introductions and small exhibitions. Its mission of open dialogue links heritage conservation with contemporary cultural exchange, making the site an important bridge between past and present in Dubai’s urban fabric. The centre offers regular visiting opportunities and community programmes with modest admission arrangements and strives to maintain accessible facilities and inclusive programming for diverse audiences.
