The Torre de Vilar, also known as Torre de Vilar do Sousa, is a medieval tower located in Lousada, Portugal. Standing 14 meters tall, it dates back to the late 13th century and is an excellent example of a Domus Fortis or noble residence. Originally constructed by the lords of Riba de Vizela, it served both as a residence and a defensive structure. The tower is classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1978 and is part of the Rota do Românico. Visitors can admire its historical architecture and scenic location overlooking the lush valley of the Rio Sousa. Accessibility is good, and there are no admission fees for visiting the site, making it an ideal stop for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
