The Arco di Gallieno, also known as the Porta Esquilina, is a monumental city gate located in Rome's ancient Servian walls. Dating back to the 6th century BC, it reflects the city’s rich history and architectural evolution. Originally part of the early city defenses, it was reconstructed and adorned by Emperor Augustus. Notable for its inscription dedicated to Emperor Gallieno, the arch stands as a testament to Roman history and art. Visitors can enjoy the adjacent Church of Santi Vito e Modesto. The site is accessible year-round and does not charge an admission fee. It is well-served by public transportation.
