Casa di Goethe in Rome is a museum and cultural centre devoted to the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, commemorating his residence in the city during his Italian Journey (1786–1788). Housed in a historic Roman building, it preserves period rooms and exhibits manuscripts, letters, prints and objects that illustrate Goethe’s life, his artistic ties to Italy and his influence on European culture. The institution organises rotating exhibitions and cultural programming that explore literary, artistic and historical connections between Germany and Italy. For visitors it maintains regular opening hours and a ticketed admission; adapted facilities, accessible routes and clear interpretive labels support visitors with reduced mobility, and guided presentations are offered at times. The centre also holds a specialist library and research resources on Goethe and the cultural exchanges of the 18th and 19th centuries.
