Ponte Cestio, also known as Pons Aurelius, is a historic arch bridge in Rome, built in 46-44 BC by Lucius Cestius. It connects the Tiber Island to the right bank of the Tiber River, near Trastevere. The bridge underwent significant renovations in the 4th century, and its modern structure was completed in the 19th century after being damaged during the siege of Rome in 1849. Visitors can admire the beautiful travertine and peperino stonework. The surrounding area offers picturesque views and a vibrant atmosphere, ideal for leisurely strolls. There are no admission fees, and the bridge is accessible year-round.
