The Catedral de São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral, is a modern architectural marvel inaugurated in 1979. Designed by architect Edgar de Oliveira da Fonseca, its conical shape and colorful stained glass windows create a unique spiritual atmosphere. It serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of São Sebastião and can accommodate up to 20,000 people. Visitors can explore its stunning interior and prominent artworks, including sculptures by Humberto Cozzo. The cathedral is located in the heart of Rio and is easily accessible by public transport. Admission is free, and it is open daily from 7 AM to 7 PM.
