The Marktbrunnen in Goslar is one of the most significant bronze castings from the Romanesque period and is the largest and oldest preserved market fountain in Germany. It features two bronze basins, with the lower basin dating back to the 12th century. The upper basin, created between 1200 and 1230, was originally a separate fountain. Adorned with mythical creatures, including four dragon heads, the fountain is a central attraction in the market square since 1834. Visitors can see a replica of the gilded imperial eagle atop the fountain, with the original housed in the Goslar Museum. The site is accessible year-round and free to visit.
